The surroundings

The surroundings of the bungalow park Adelhof are ideal for day trips and excursions. The varying environment, with its ash forests, farmlands and fields, as well as characteristic villages, help make this location a unique holiday destination.

In the immediate vicinity you will find a large number of bike and hiking trails, museums and tourist attractions. This is a special part of the Netherlands because there are two beautiful National Parks in the neighborings: the Dwingelderveld and Drents Frisian Forest. The vast forests, sand dunes, moors, fens and rich flora and fauna here are quite unique.

Vledder, just as Diever a part of the municipality of Westerveld, is located on the National Park "Drents Freise Wold, and is also adjacent to the beautiful areas in Friesland and Overijssel. Thanks to this unique location, Vledder is very attractive. Add to it its colonial past, and there you have a charming destination.

Besides the many hectares of forest area, Vledder and its surroundings have many monumental buildings, with emphasis on the former colony Frederiksoord where the "Society of Beneficence" is located. The picturesque colonial houses and the former workers' houses are well preserved.

The rich history of the realm colonies can be found in Drenthe Museum "The Koloniehof". Also in Frederiksoord both the G.A. van Swieten Gardens and the "Idea's Garden" are worthwhile to visit with facilities and opportunities for disabled. You can even take lessons in designing your garden! This area is also ideally suited as a base for trips to both the National Park Drents-Friese Wold (forest and wold) and the Weerribben (peat lakes with their specific flora and fauna) lying on Overijssel territory.
